There is no doubt that industrializaion was great for the nation. That is, it was a benefit for the future. At the time, industrialization was horrible for the working class that chose to work in those overcrowded factories. Workers, many of them being children, were forced to work in terrible conditions. Many of the jobs were dirty and the workers ended up dying early or getting a life threatening disease or affliction.
Living conditions were also low. Thousands of people moved to the cities to be closer to tbe centers of manufacturing. As a result, the cities became incredibly cramped and pollution filled the air.
