Franklin Roosevelt said that he supported England with the touble they had with Hitler. He said that he would do whatever it would take to help England. Since there was a law of nuetrality that didnt let America help England and since Great Britain really didnt have much to lend England the USA didnt want Germany to gain a bunch of control so they found a way around the law. Roosevelt had a press breifing in which he compared the USA lending England guns and other stuff needed for war is simply like letting your neighbor borrow a garden hose while his house was on fire. basically saying that you would help someone when they were in need. The USA congress passed the lend lease act in 1941 the Soviet Union agreed and signed a year later. Hitler knew of the law and it basicallty ment that the USA had declared war against Germany. Hitler really didnt want to declare war on the US he just wanted to get Stalin out of power. Hitler wrote to Mussolini saying that England had a hope of winning based on two things, America and Russia. Hitler knew that America wouldnt back down from helping England. Hitler attacked the Soviet Union because the English and American power had grown. Stalin didnt prepare for war so that didnt work in his favor and causes the Soviet Union to lose. The US would send the USSR a bunch of war supplies on a monthly basis. Since mostly everyone was against Hitler the US had sent guns to about 42 countries. So the USA participated in world war 2 by supplying countries with war supplies.
